Has anyone gone to the burning man festival ? It looks like absolute insanity . I am gagging to go , could anybody who has gone give me some advice for a first timer . The official website isn`t very good as regards telling non americans how to get there etc , I know money is banned at the festival , but could anyone give me a ballpark figure as to how much I may need for travel etc ,.Any help would be great .

I met a few lads who I knew from college on my travels by coincidence and they had just came from there.

As far as I know its not that hard to get there, its in the Nevada desert, you can fly to LA and get some mode of transport from there. I think they bought an old van or car or something and headed out in that and slept in it. It only cost them $800 or something.

They said it was ****ing unreal. Bring stuff that you can use sort of "gift" for your "currency", something Irish goes down a treat they were saying.

Thats all I really know about it, they said it was amazing but were glad after it was over, their bodies couldnt take anymore. ;)

Myself and a gang of mate went in 1999 and are planning on going back this year. You should buy your ticket asap as the price rises every week. It’s a great, mind blowing experience well worth the trip- you’ll just have to go to experience it, as it’s actually impossible to describe.

We travelled down from San Fran – it took about 4 hours, I think. You need to bring absolutely everything with you to survive for a week, drugs, booze, food, water, lots of wacky, colourful clothes and outfits.

It will be the best experience of your life- go.
