NTL cabling question

I've just moved into a new apartment and the NTL point is in a a really bad location. I took the digital box from my last place to the new one but the cable that I have to connect the point to the box is only 2 feet or so and I need it about 10 feet. Does anywhere like Maplin sell this with the connections pre attached - the screw type ones, not too sure what they're called?

    Cheers.

It's just a standard BNC connector isn't it?

Thanks for that Chalk, it's been so long since I've had to buy cabling that I wasn't sure if cables with those screw-type connectors (BNC as Achillies called them?) were readily available or not.

NTL will make you up one for free and the cable quality they use is better than anything you'll get off the shelf in Maplins, the other alternative is to get them to make one to order 75ohm f type male to male

Thanks folks. I had considered contacting NTL customer support but to be honest there are enough grey hairs on my head as it is. Might get the missus to do it instead :p

Uhhhh, I new that contacting NTL customer service would be a mistake. They claim they would charge me.

I was then told that if I was sent out a new cable that it would be the same length as the old one - a standard of 1.5 feet! When I told the lady at the other end that the old one was cut to length during the original installation so how could they possible be the same length she can panicked and said that the installers use the exact same cable that you can buy in maplins or peats so I should go there. Then she started putting me on hold every time I asked a question so I though it was time to end the call before I exploded.

    Hate NTL.

Yeah i hate having to deal with NTL customer service too, takes ya a fair few calls just to get somebody nice who'll actually help. Makes ya feel like repeatedly banging your head off the phone... then the wall... then throwing the phone off the wall... then of course you have to call somebody to come out and repair the phone.... then they put you on hold and you throw your mobile against the wall, causing you to borrow someone else's to call about fixing the mobile and then ntl and you get put on hold and then.... well the list goes on and on in a vicious cycle really.

Cableguy, you made me snort coffee up my nose! I made it clear I just wanted a longer cable and they could post it out to me. She was having none of it. I do feel like calling back but life's just too short to stay on hold to 10 minutes just to get grief when I finally get through.

I'm on Thomas Street, Dublin 8. I've already called Maplins and they have a 5 metre cable in stock so I'll head up at lunchtime.

Thanks for that, I appreciate it. Went to Maplins yesterday - 'according to the computer there are 15 on the shelf' says the fella behind the counter pointing to an empty shelf. Peats were able to sort me out though.
