BSG Continuity Issues

I'm usually pretty attentive, and would normally spot any continuity issues with either films or (in this case) a series. However, I have to say that I'm struggling to find any continuity issues from episode to episode so far.

I'm not talking about differences from the mini-series to season 1, just between the eps in season 1. Normally I spot a few each week in most shows, but so far - I can't think of one yet.

Anyone else noticed any continuity issues with the episodes to date? If not - then someone is really doing a good job in the production of this stuff. Over to you...

No I've noticed none either - which is good. I remember fans would try and spot mistakes in Babylon 5 and post them online and JMS would come back and explain why they weren't, in fact, continuity mistakes.

In BSG, I assume Moore has a good controlling hand. Hopefully, as time goes by, it won't contradict itself. Sci-fi/genre fans are among the most anal for attention to detail and ensuring the show's mythos isn't compromised and most do a fair enough job with it. Let's try to spot them anyway.

Would have to say that its fairly flawless.
Also if the mini series was treated as a movie (sort of) wouldnt that mean the continuity foundation was there for the series.Or do ya reckon the mini-series
was shot to the show schedule or vica versa?

not a continuity issue as such

but I think in episode 1 just before Galactice engages the FL drive
tight says the hangers have been retracted and then there is an external shoot and the hangers are definatley sticking out!

The only continuity thingy I've noticed thus far (and I'm not even sure if this is the case) is the one in tonights episode (ep 1.5, "You can't go home again").

Basically - baltar/6 scene with el presidento. In previous scenes where baltar is multi-tasking, he hears 6 but when he responds, everyone nearby hears him - hence the need for multi-tasking. I think this has been consistant up to now, however in tonights ep he talks away to 6, and the president hears none of it.

Don't know if its just me, or if it actually is a continuity flaw. Personally I've loved the baltar scenes to date, especially when he is carrying on two converstions at the same time and trying to cover it up. However - tonight the scene just didn't have the same impact when he talks to her, and doesnt have to hide it.

I didn't watch tonights ep, but I'm pretty sure I saw the doc talking away to six while people around him heard nothing in one of the episodes.. couldn't say which one, or where..

and I could even be wrong

I would say that its deliberate on the part of the script writers. More of the is she real or just him going nutty storyline. Hence why she stood on his hand to make him react - its either the sane side of his brain wanting to draw attention to his loopiness or its her just playing power games with him.

Thats my read on it anyhoo.

    I have one.

Remember episode 4 or 5 ish when with the prisoners, and one of the prisoners goes to rape the chiefs left hand, that girl, and he shoots her, and she is left in hospital.

2 episodes better she is back working straight away, no apparent signs of injury. Giving that at that point Helo had been on Caprica 17 days, surely nobody can recover in 5 or 6 days ?

Good point! I hadn't spotted that one, and more relevant given that the Starbuck character (who was injured two weeks ago) was still in hospital recovering this week.

Well spotted.. reputation on its way to you for your observation skills! :D

I think perhaps that the Caprica and Galactica plots are out of sync...

I doubt it, everything so far seems pretty tightly done, i.e stories that started in the mini series which we gorgot about are being brought to our attention again, but I guess it is possible, still, like coyote said, she gets shot, next episode she is fine, starbuck hurts her leg, 2 episodes later she's she in hospital.

It can probably be explained this way. The Galactica needs every warm body it has to keep things running. The girl was shot in the prisoner episode but the injuries may have been such that she could be cleared for light duties until she was fully recovered. If they weren't fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, she might have been abel to get a few more days in sick bay, but not now. If you notice it's the chief inside the Cylon raider while the girl is sitting outside holding a clipboard. On the other hand, Starbuck can't walk. There's no getting around that.

Also, do we get a solid time line between the specialist girl being shot and the next time we see her? it could be 2 weeks or it could be just a couple of days.

Plus we never really saw how extensive her injuries were.

Good point about the light duties...
