Can anyone recommend a printer?

I've had a Lexmark Z33 which I bought as part of a Dell bundle about 3 years ago. Hadn't used it much as I had access to good printers in work. Looked at price for replacement / refilled ink cartridges and prices go from about 50 yoyos (for both cartridges to be filled) to 70 euro for 2 new cartridges.

I'm not interested in photo printing, I do that with Photobox. I need something that can also print in colour which I'll be doing every week. Speed is not too important, but don't wait any longer than 30 seconds for first page. About 8-10 pages per minute would be great.

I'm thinking about a budget of 250-300 euro.

Had also thought about one of those 4-in-1 (scanner/printer/copier/fax) as I do some work from home. Anyone got any comments on these? Can any of the combis do OCR or do I need additional software? A scanner/copier with a document feeder would be best.

    TIA, HAND, etc.

I've got a scanner/printer combo (Epson stylus CX3200), it came with OCR software and does the job nicely.
You should look for somewhere that does refill jobs on your existing print carts... paying the guts of €100 for brand new carts is a bit steep.
I've been refilling my epson carts since I got it, no problems at all.

I got a Epson CX6600 in PC world in Limerick for €230.

I can't go on enough about how good this machine is. Its a scanner, printer, photocopier, & multi-card reader.

I'm in the graphic design game & the scanner in the yoke is the best I've seen over the years bar a drum-scanning.

B&W photo coping takes about 5 seconds.
It prints pretty high quality photos & the card reader is dead handy.

Even the software & on machine controls are well though out.

    Great, thanks for the replies.
how much are the refills costing you (to both SantaHoe and pencil)?
Any idea of cost per page for these printers? How many pages are you getting per cartridge, and what is breakdown of mono and colour printing?

    Thanks again

id go for the Hewlett Packard 2410, its an excellent printer. Has memory card slots for digi cameras, and an LCD screen to cycle through the photos...so u dont need your PC. does something like (google for exact) 17 ppm in black, 12 in colour.

    Its a 4 in 1 too...

the black ink is 32, color is 46 and photo is 36. Printer itself is 299 and is worth every penny imo

Another question: where did you buy your printer? Online or local retailler? If you bought online, did you check the printer out in a shop to see quality, speed, etc?

I'll probably have to buy cartridges today as I've some stuff I need to complete for the weekend, but will then have some time to browse in the shops.

Sorry to drag this thread up again.

I was just wondering how your CX6600 is going Pencil?
I bought one June last year after reading good reports about it, but I have recently read that these printers start giving problems just after the warranty expires. Main problem being clogged print heads.
