    There is an interesting article in today's Guardian on someone that took up cycling as a response to congestion charging.

    He makes some intersting points (which are aplicable to Ireland as well), Cyclists need to be recognised as legitimate roads users and they also need to follow the rules of the road.

    I read the article. I think the writer may have had her brain squashed in that accident. How can she say it's ''not desirable'' to massively extend the cycle lane network? Isn't that madness? Cycle lanes - properly constructed - save lives: cyclists'.

    All too often, the focus is on what cyclists should do (dressing up like in tacky yellow jackets etc) while drivers get off scot free. If drivers stuck to the speed limits and kept an eye out for cyclists, there'd be no accidents.
