Edwyn Collins began his career in rock with the formation of a school band, the Nu-Sonics, who metamorphosised into Orange Juice. Edwyn and Alan Horne established the trail blazing independent label, Postcard Records of Scotland as a vehicle for Orange Juice and other bands who impressed them, such as Aztec Camera, Josef K and the Go-Betweens.

After a series of sparkling singles, Orange Juice signed to a major label and made four albums before grinding to an inevitable halt in 1985.

Since then Edwyn has been a solo entity as a performer. He has increasingly based his activities in his studio in West Hampstead.

As well as his own output over the years he has produced a lot of music for others and taken inspiration from his surroundings for the slightly mental TV series "West Heath Yard." And, of course, from the 1995 album "Gorgeous George" came the biggest single of his and many other lives, the humungous and globally omnipresent (even to this day) "A Girl Like You."
