there is programs out there to help you, but i don't know which one would be the best, someone else who has had experience losing files will be able to tell you.

here's some tips though that i do know.

1.system restore only resets the registry not the actual files.
2.if you want the files back (which i gathered from your post) do not use the drive they were on if possible.

To emphasise what Cremo said: STOP USING YOUR HARD DRIVE. The more you use it, the more information that gets moved around and the more information that will be lost. If you've another drive, switch to it immediately and use that to find and download a recovery tool.

As for getting a recovery tool itself, search this board as your question comes up frequently, or search Google.

Which using System Restore will defeat the point of in the vase of about 95% of users... Anyway, GetDataBack has worked for me in the past... Just install it on a different drive/partition if you have one... If not, face up to the fact that they are most likely gone by now...

your files remain on the hard disk until other data is overwritten on the same space, only the links from the directory listing are removed.

you could try r-undelete.com but the free version will only get back files < 64k.

Actually, while the data is still there, its marked on the FAT table as fair game, so ANY potential data writing is likely to corrupt it.

There are companies that specalise in recovering data, with very good results, but they are expensive

    This is one of them

look, if your running windows...... you click delete..... Ms windows moves your file(s) into the recycle bin..... and you then click delete from the recycle bin.... actually what really happens is than windows just marks the space your files were stored on available for R-W (re-write)..... so the more stuff your install and delete the less chance you have of recovery.... any way i think your better off re-scanning the pictures or re-taking them .as re-covery can be a lenghty process..... good luck either way
