How d'you go about getting work in Australia, specifically in Perth, all you geeks out there?

Is there a good jobs market of some sort, or where's the best place to look? Programming, tech support, anything like that.

Try posting in the work forum.

From what I gather there aren't a lot of tech jobs there at the moment.

Heh - yeah, I didn't see them rushing to hand out those work permits to the Afghani travellers waiting at customs.

First you have to get in.
To get into australia you have to have a couple of grand in the bank and your chances of getting in are small.

My workseeking programmer pal is already in, with a work permit. Finding the work is the next thing.

We were all pretty fu*ked off by the refugee thing over here especially by the attitude of our liberal (is that irony?) government. You only heard about that boat, but we get two or three boats a week arriving, I guess this incident was to act as a deterrent.
Perth is still a bloody great place, I've been here since 1985. Plenty of jobs, IT or otherwise. I'm not sure how much you need to get a working holiday permit, but it seems to be fairly much wall to wall paddys here so someones getting in. Hey if you want to know more..... givis a shout
