    I'm confused (as always ;)).

    Man meets woman. Man likes woman. Woman likes man. Man kisses woman.
    Woman kisses back. Man and woman go home together and do what adults do. Man and woman start "seeing" each other.

    Now are they having sex because they are in a relationship or are the in a relationship because they are having sex?

    For the man they are in a relationship because they are having sex. For a woman they are having sex because they are in a relationship.

    Tricky one: theory is this. Sex is fantastic - your partner has many annoying traits that become increasingly obvious as your multi-night stand continues. If these cease to increase and you can forgive them - you are in a relationship imho.

    Neither.

    I've had sex with certain women on a regular basis, and neither of us considered it a relationship. A "relationship" comes from wanting something more than just sex.

    A bit general.

    I think most men will require a teeny bit more than sex for it to qualify as a relationship.

    And most women have slightly higher expectations of a relationship than sex alone.

    In a relationship because they are having sex...

    People have sex because they are sexually attracted to each other, no relationship necessary. They become an item to make that sexual relationship official & exclusive.

    Technically she's only been selfish if her official partner isn't the daddy - otherwise it's his selfish sperm for swimming so proficiently & fertilising the egg that was just innocently sitting there! :p
