    Microsoft WORD is not FREE.
    The OEM version is bound to the machine so in most cases you can't move it to a different machine.

    http://www.openoffice.org - free open source etc.
    http://www.software602.com/download/- used to be free, not sure anymore - you might have to find an older version on a sharware site.

    if you do decide to install word - please tick the box that says "disable features not supported by word 97" this will mean others will be able to read your files.
