Can anyone remember if there were any decent PC and Laptop sales last January, I want to buy a new PC or laptop and was wondering if I would be better off waiting until the new year to buy it as I'm in no great rush to get it. There seems to be some decent offers around at the moment, I would expect these would be even better after Christmas.

Sometimes. A lot of retailers seem to realise that most people wait for the sales and put items on sale but don't change the price. So check the prices before and after xmas to ensure you actually are getting a better price.

Dell have a sale every month, as does everyone else, it's an industry where most speed/storage products halve in value every 18 months, so if it's only 10% off last months price it really isn't a sale.

Still, it's probably worth waiting until after Christmas and checking out the prices of Laptops and PCs then. They won't go up in price and they may have some neat offers after Christmas is over.

10% off a decent new laptop would be at least €150! I think it's worth the wait if there's a chance you might save that much money.

Im thinking off doing the same myself put im looking only at laptops

Im taking a keen eye to the latest dell offereing of this baby

If only they increase the porcesser to a 1.6 GHz and up to the RAM to 512 MB instead of a free printer!
Id be laughing :D , even though I hear good and bad things about dells

Im also looking at IBM and Sony's although they are more expensive (I can get nice discount on the IBM's though ;) )

The best time to buy a computer from Dell is during the summer. Its a very quiet period for them so they usually put out some really good offers, plus the sales reps are really keen to sell you stuff so you can usually haggle a better price.
