LCD monitor

I'm thinking of getting an LCD monitor and was wondering if anyone knows of any gotchas you need to be aware of before buying. Things like max refresh rate and response time that might effect game performance I suppose.

I'm looking at this for €444 for a 19" Samsung or possibly this one which is 19" by Iiyama for €549.
The specs seem pretty much the same. My question would be, is there any good monitor review sites or info sites that tell you what's best to get?

the other concerns you should have are dead pixels and DVI input. analog input is supposed to be inferior.

For gamin response time should be less than 25, ideally 12ms or 16ms...the lower the better.

Contrast ratio of at least 500:1 is another thing

the thing about response times can be very objective. some people might not notice/bothered by certain amounts of ghosting. also different monitors with identical response times might be very different in performance.
the best idea is to get into a shop that sells them and try them yourself before you buy online.

Thanks for that guys. Lookingat the other monitors on Komplett, even the more expensive ones are still 25ms response time, same for the 17" ones. I'm upgrading my whole system as soon as some cash I'm waiting on comes my way. So far I'm up to just under a grand for the upgrades, excluding a monitor. An LCD monitor would be nice, but it's hardly a must have.

I might just stick to my 19" CRT but I'll probably head out to PC World and see if I can demo any of their LCDs to get a feel for them.

try to play some first person shooters on them, cos it is only really these types of games that show up ghosting.
