Wireless options for iBook G3 800

Is the iBook G3 800 compatible with Airport Extreme? If not, what are my options in terms of adding wireless capability to the laptop?

I'd like this laptop to be wireless, but I'm not willing to spend a lot of money to get it there.

    your two options are:

    1. Apple airport (original) or equiv (orinoco or IBM) all of these go for about 60-80GBP

    2. USB dongle. I think maplin had one a while back quite cheap. Maybe somebody remembers it?

I have an airport for sale, but im aiming to get at least the ebay price for it.

Needless to say, you'll be going for the dongle option 1st!

I have a d-link wireless dongle, totally mac compatible for about 25 yoyo's if yer interested...I'v only used it once and the range seems better than my PCMCIA card..

The one they were selling in maplin, did NOT work on OSX 10.3, I tried, I failed, I ended up getting my money back.. :(

Definitely interested. Is it compatable with both Jaguar and Panther, and with USB1.0 ports (the ones on the iBook 800)? Is it b or b/g ?

If it'll work with the laptop and both OSX versions, even if it's only 802.11b, I'll buy it. It's not as pretty as a built-in Airport card, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper... besides, I'm not too pushed about this iBook looking pretty (that'll wait for the Powerbook).

It's 802.11b only, far as i know it works in 10.2 and 10.3, will check it when I get home.

Its not an ugly dongle either, and has a hole and cap fro a keychain (if you really want to :P )

Its a dlink, dwl-122, bought it in Comp USA when I was on holidays, they had them reduced from 59 - 39 dollars.

Got a wireless "G" pcmcia card when I got my powerbook upgraded around the same time though so didnt need it.

you may be able to pick one up on the interweb, works with 10.2 +link here
