Im wondering if anyone knows if there is an application out there that Installs software such as MS Office, Anti-virus etc.. on new computers from a single CD or a single point on the LAN. I Know that Ghost software can be used, however the computers come with the OS installed on them so this is not exactly suitable. Any suggestions are appreciated.

    In a word, no.

Why not just copy the files from all your install CDs to a folder on a network drive, then map this 'Installs Folder' on the new PC and install everything from there, one at a time of course. Most companies employ such a method for installing software.

Using a Ghost image with all apps pre-installed would overwrite the OS on the PC and you would have to have the same architecture in each PC for this to be generic (or seperate images for each PC architecture).

If even the OS is preinstalled, ghost could still be the best way to go. Even whn automated, installing a few applications will take longer than ghosting and having ghost images is very usefull, if you can convince your users to save all their work on networked drives then any time they have a software problem you can just ghost their PC (unless of course the problem is in the image itself which is the big risk).

Many applications have their own ways of doing automated "silent" installs, it might be easier to look at each of these indiviually and then have some kind of batch file to do them all together than to find some seperate app to do them all.
