I think this weekend the BatFlat is going to be taken over by rabid Halo 2 fanatics...

I'm certainly not leaving my seat all weekend. Trucks of munchies are being shipped in and the two litre bottles of coke will have multiple uses.... I may venture out to play the 20-in game. Unlikely though!

Ok grand turnout of 3!!! Me Hyzepher(i think) and Richard. Pam wasnt there (or at least i coundnt see him) wasnt held so i presume the 3 ppl who turned up are in the final?

Anyways played in the freeroll (only about 3 tables) and went out with a suspect call i made shortly after the freeze out period.

Myself, TrickyD and Corben were all that arrived. I was going to try and reschedule but couldn't be arsed - anyway I kind of like the idea of reaching the final on a technicality, makes me feel Dev-like.

The BSOP in general is running the risk of turning into a damp squid over the closing months. I may look into taking attendance into account if there are tied rankings at the end of December.

HERE HERE! I think its just as a stand alone monthly tournie, its not worth the money without an eye on the league. I would have thought eveyone would be scrambling for points this month but since it's flopped, we can presume the same next month?

do you have a tally for the total final table prize pool yet Chris?

an alternative would be to have a tournament with everyone starting
who's in the leaderboard. but the top of the leader board gets the most amount
of chips down to the smallest stack with the least points. whaddyiz think?

eh.....no.

if there are enough interested parties for the final month then run it. you should start a separtate thread to gauge interest in a December heat, who will definitely play, and then maybe only 1 or 2 heats might be necessary!?

For December:
Name a day of the month as BSOP day, get everyone who is still interested into the Fitz on that day and run whatever amount of tables the numbers dictate.

ie. if 18 people turn up then run 2 tables, with 6 qualifying. At least that way there won't be the unfairness of people getting into the monthly final without playing.

Good Plan! And why not just run the monthly final the same day after those heats?

And that gives us time to have the Grand Final in December too!!

I didn't play this month due to wisdom teeth issues and would have otherwise. I think it's only fair to run it as people are expecting a heat next month.

I reckon bsop day makes of the sense. Too many people will have issues getting heats organised near the end of the month. Say Saturday afternoon in the fitz or something like it.

OK - I will do something a bit more GRAND to try and get this thing settled. Mind you once I organised it I'm not going to entertain stuff like

"I can't make it that day - can we change"
"I don't like crowds - can we go back to the way it was"
"I am a moron and couldn't be arsed to get out of bed to fulfil my committments"
"Hyzepher is a turd and couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery"

I think this is a good idea but more for the grand final than anything else. It would ensure that everyone would play in the last months heats as even those who have pretty much qualified will be trying to get extra chips.

What about an extra 200 starting chips for your position on the leaderboard? So say in the grand final everyone gets 5,000 chips, then 8th gets an extra 200, 7th gets an extra 400 etc..

I agree but would there be a problem holding it in December rather than January? And what is the likely prize structure? I don't want to know how much is in the pot or anything but are all 9 players going to get paid or will it be 1/2/3?

Due to the 'less than expected' prize pool, it will be 1,2,3 paid.

I was hoping to have around €1500+ in the fund so 1st would get ~€1000 but I think it will be less than that. Still should be €800 or so to 1st

I agree totally, however, I think it would be a good idea to set a date for the grand final a couple of weeks in advance, so people have an opportunity to ensure that they can attend the grand final. Particularly given that making the final has taken several months of effort for most people in the list..
