Can anyone recommend a cost-effective online service or client software which allows you to send and receive faxes over a DSL modem?

I was going to sign up for this http://www.send2fax.com/ but it seems to be available for North America. All the alternatives seem to require use of a fax modem which I don't have.

I might have one in my defunct hardware pile.

I really want a solution that keeps the phone line free so ideally something that interfaces with http or smtp/pop3.

A local version of this http://www.send2fax.com/ service would be ideal as it seems to be a purely web based, an ASP type deal. (Maybe a business opportunity there for someone?)
