Is it necessary to wear a suit when graduating? Is slacks/shirt/tie ok instead of a suit?

    Thanks.

I went with the shirt\tie\pants thing last year, and the suit this year... Have to say, I prefered the suit for some reason, but thats just me... A lot of people went shirt\tie\pants, so you'll be grand...

Mind you, I suppose it all depends on where you're graduating from as well...

Between our capes and our red and gold sashes though, we looked like extras from the next Harry Potter movie...

It's as simple as this. Assuming you're having your picture taken with the schlab of paper, wear something that will look good in a picture with you holding a schlab of paper and **** the begrudgers. It's your graduation, not the college's graduation so whatever makes you comfy.

Yeah, i'm wearing some "suitey-type" (yes, that is what's on the label :)) trousers, a shirt and a tie.

    Should do the job!

Thats a pretty good way of looking at it... Just remember though, smart casual... No tracksuits and cider bottles...
