Entrepreneurial idea

I couldnt find anywhere suitable to put this so here it is. BTW i think there should be an entrepreneur board set up on this where people could discuss their ideas, and any ideas posed cannot be stolen..

    Anyway...
My father had a brainwave. Its a good idea like, just want to run it though you guys.

You know when you plug in something its very easy to forget to plug it out. This could have serious consequences when its a heater you forget to plug out, coz i've often left my heater on all night which could quite easily go on fire.

He's idea is some sort of device like push-button thing on the plug that you press down and it turns the plug on and starts a timer which lasts 30 minutes after which the plug turns off, turning off the heater.

Its a good idea, so firstly wondering has this been thought of already? Secondly, do you understand what the hell im on about. Thirdly, if this hasn't been thought of already has anyone any constructive ideas on how this might work?

    Denis

Never going to happen if you post your business ideas on the internet, no legal coverage.

    I think so, yes.

Hmm... Well, you could do it in two flavours, one that would sit in the middle between the the socket and the plug. You could then have a digital timer, or just a chip monitoring the time since the button was pressed, which would count to the 30min mark and then cut the power, using a mechanism like a common plug switch.

A similar system could be used in an actual wall mounted plug socket, handy for the likes of retirement homes.

I think it's kind of been thought of except with a dial - they sell them in Argos

Yeah I know those timer plugs with the dials are already in existence. I understand what you are saying sketch, thats what im on about. Now is there anyone who could develop such a thing?

Pretty sure that mousetrap has already been invented.

    I love pistacheo nuts !

Im with you there bananna, its such a pain have to deshell them, you cant fill your mouth with them as it takes longer to deshell than chew

Assuming you don't mean growing them magically without shells, you can actually buy small bags of them de-shelled. The only place I've seen them, that I can remember, is Tescos. They're usually on a stand with other tiny bags of nuts and dried fruit, can't remember the name of the brand/range. Be warned, they are priced accordingly.

And they probably wouldn't be much use in a timed plug device...

Well we've a few of those dial things aswell... I think they're very similar to what you're talking about. We use them when we're away for the heaters and they're real handy cos they mean no having to remember when to turn them on or to turn them off.

Anyway if you did want to make one of these it wouldn't be that hard to just have a push button system that sends a signal to close a swith and allow the power to flow through it and not re-open the switch until a certain time has elapsed.

Ye, de shelled pistachio would be great, but, as was mentioned I would imagine the price would be high.

Although half the fun is getting one of those half open ones and trying to crack the bastard! When you finally break him free....satisfaction at its best!

I have one, it switches on and of my fan heater, it has:

timer:time on - time off up to 10 different settings
once off: turn on for XX minutes
once off: turn off when temp reaches X

They have been round for donkeys years altho the digital ones are a more recent evolution....

    Next....

It's already been invented. It's along the same lines as those light switches you get in Apartment Block Lobby's. You press the light switch in and after about a minute or two the button releases itself back out and the light turns off. It's used to stop people leaing the lights on and thus running up enormous electricity bills for the landlord.

I remember when I was a kid I came up with what I thought was a revolutionary idea, (well I was young!)
You know the way women are always giving out about men not putting the toilet seat down (I can never understand why it's such a big issue with women!!!).

Well my idea was a toilet seat that works on the same principal as a pedal bin. So whenever you felt the need to drain the beast you'd walk into the bathroom step on the pedal, the toilet seat would go up, you'd do your business and then when you were finished you'd take your foot off the pedal and the toilet seat would return to the down position and everybody is happy.

Unfortunatley I never done anything about my idea and somebody else came up the idea a couple of years ago!! :( Carpe Diem!!

I was told that they loose flavour the longer they are out of their shells, although that could be bs

Hehe! You just reminded me of the first time my mate ate pistachio nuts. I'd been trying to get her to try them for aaaages cuz I think they're lovely. So, I gets a packet of them while we were in the pub one afternoon. I handed her a few, she stuffed the whole handful into her mouth and proceeded to crunch away on them SHELLS AND ALL!!! I presumed she would have the intelligence to crack the shell off them first  She wasn't very impressed with them, as you can imagine!
I vote for the shelled pistachio nuts too!! Someone invent them quick!

I'd love someone to invent a book holder that will keep your book in a reading position while you are eating and change the page for you so you don't have to put down your knife and fork. Yes, I know it's very rude to read while eating, but, I LOVE it nonetheless! :D
