btkrnl.sys on Safe Mode

I installed the 250GB hard drive I got from Lidl into my system yesterday, along with another HD i had lying around.

Now when I boot up, windows just stays loading with the bar moving across the bottom. BIOS now only recognises my Hard Drives, not my Optical drives (I have 4 IDE ports with 2 devices on each, except for the last one which has one HD)

I tried going into safe mode, and it stops on btkrnl.sys - apparently the BlueTooth core application.

    It makes no sense!!!!!!!!!!

    Any help much appreciated

I picked up that lidl hard drive too.
    Good value for money :D

I installed it as slave to my 80GB hard drive.
I have two optical drives on other ide cable.
The obvious thing is have you the hardware connected properly
with the proper connections on ide cable and jumper settings correct?

Cable should be if i can recall:
    blue to motherboard
    grey to slave
    black to master

    However your xp boots up?
And is missing this bluetooth driver file?
    Have you any more info?
You should defo douuble check physical conns.

Let me know how you do :)

yeah, all the jumpers and connections are right

I have a primary IDE and secondard IDE on my Mobo, then a primary and secondary on a PCI controller

    MOBO: Primary: Master: 60GB HDD
    Slave: 250GB HDD
    Second: Master: DVD Reader
    Slave: CD R/W
PCI: Primary: Master: 40GB Maxtor (Media Drive)
    Slave: 40GB Maxtor (Empty)
    Second: Empty (Awaiting DVD Burner)

The new stuff is the 250GB drive and the empty 40GB Maxtor. No reason why bluetooth would stop windows starting properly.....

    Any other ideas.

I haven't had a chance to try disconnect and reboot yet

If its still freezing after checking the physical conns you could try a repair install if you have the xp disk.
