    Hello,

My monitor has suddenly developed a fault - the screen has become overlain
with horizontal lines, streaks and dots, all arranged in a number of
columns, coloured green, blue and red. I'm at a loss to restore my PC to its
regular state. Can anyone suggest a solution?

    My device details:

Operating System is Windows XP SP2
Monitor is Dell E151FPp, 15" LCD
Display Adaptor is RADEON 9800 PRO

    Thanks.

Have you reseated all te cables etc? If you have another monitor it would be worth plugging that in to verify that its actually an issue with your LCD.

That could also be a fault with your video card rather than monitor.

See advice in blurry monitor posts below,,try safe mode,f8 ,boot to dos prompt and into 800 by 600 resolution or plug into motherboard display adapter socket, enable onboard graphics card. try borrowing spare graphics card and replace ur existing grafics card. or use windows grafics svga driver from add hardware control panel.or plug pc into spare monitor.
