I got stuck at the shadow part - how do you do the crescent shadow? He says "Crescent light shadowing: Once again, for this part I echo dinyctis. Use edit->transform, hold shift and drag to the bottom left the bottom left transform part of the box as far as you deem necessary." But he doesn't say how to get the light or shadow there in the first place.

Nice planet by the way, very placid looking.

The shadow starts of as a black circle with a blured edge. Edit it with the transform tool.
Drag the bottom left gizmo down to the left. Or the top right as this image shows.
Then invert the selection and fill for a different look.

Been trying this for awhile. Its difficult to get the texture right, but I suppose thats what I get for trying to make cities straight away.

    Cheers for the link.

Got way too much blue shiny stuff due to working on a smaller workspace and the shadow isn't right as I went about it differently.

Next stop is to take a higher res (and in focus this time) photy of my eye and then actually do the proper psd!

The examples the guy gives are amazing.
Its slightly misleading though. "Do this, and you can create this"

I doubt I'll be able to do some of the ones he did.

That was one of the toughest tutorials to follow I've ever done :o

My lame effort is here - for what it's worth.
