I have all the connections made as far as i can see, but its not powering up. How do I know if i have shorted my motherboard? please god dont let it be this...

What i think the problem might be is the pwr-sw connection onto the mother board, how should that be connected.

Also the mother board says not to use a 3.3v graphics card, I got a radeon 9200 for this rig, and it says its AGP 8x (0.8v) AGP 4x (1.5v) 2x (3.3v) so which ****ing volt is it. The motherboard is AGP 8x and 4x, so I should be ok yea?

    Please Help.

Well if you are not sure of what way to plug in the PWR connector from your MB to your case what you can use is a jumper....either way it will start the PC. You can't keep the jumper in for very long though because it shuts it down again, just as if you were holding down the button on the front of your case.

Not powering up? This happened to me - I (doh!) didn't realise a 250w power supply was inadequate for my motherboard. All I got was a red led lit on the 250w. Put in a 450w and works fine now.

Nothing, it does nothing. Whats the jumper thing about? I dont think i could have had shorted the motherboard, i didnt do anything major to it. Maybe i tightend it to much to the raisers, but still i mean.

    Why wont it start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have a 350w one so it should be fine.

My guess would be the Power switch on the wrong connector or the cmos jumper on the mainboard not set properly by default.

I'd safely say most of us have been there. Sometimes the wiring diagrams are as clear as mud. Well done for spotting it.

Wish they'd make some sort of standardised plug and socket for all the case buttons and leds :(

Have to agree. Plugging in 5/6 tiny connectors with tiny writing on them into a strip of connectors is looking for trouble. An ISO standard is needed here imho. One oblong plug -with (in some cases) unused pins, with a polarization notch - so you just can't fcuk it up is what's needed.

Just strikes me as being odd this hasn't happened before this. Wonder if its in the pipe-line? If not why not?
