bleh..from HAVING to enable dmz thanks to my damn routers port forward settings deciding not to play ball ive been dependant on sygate running on all my comps, dmz is forwarded to this comp so if any of my comps get the crap its down to me as im always on this 1...anyways just recently it appears ive had a few things creep through avg has deleted em but every so often i get some sort of bug that attacks the firewall and the firewall closes itself and refuses to open again, i thought i re install would work as this happened before..but alas no nothings working this time :(

so can anyone recommend me any good firewalls like sygate nice and free :D i dont like it telling me i have a virus somewhere and having to scan it allllll

Well, I did just remove Sygate and find that not only was my current profile, but also three Restore Points hit my a trojan. Not even my AV picked it up, but luckily updating to Ad Aware SE with the latest update managed to find the exe that had been responsible.

Just a word of warning to other Sygate users...

would choose kerio over zonealarm (older one better here too :S), older one as well, the newest gave a lot of jip for win2k ppl.

zonealarm...i use to have that and it caused havoc with my bit torrent

norton - i do actually have that actually no i have 2004...but norton pissed me off no end with *you have a virus...norton could not remove*...so you click ok..and it just keeps saying it..i uninstalled norton..ran another few scanners and nothing! so ive only got some norton tools in me comp..win doctor, speed disk etc etc

ive got adaware and spybot..and avg...and i still get gunned down by some buggers...havent heard of kerio so ill give that 1 a go

    thanks all :D

I like armor2net personal firewall, it has a pop up blocker, spyware cleaner and it uses a clever stealth mode. nice firewall. You can download it from download.com, its a trial version but emm (cough cough) you know

well ill give em all a go, think ive tried about 8 now..they either f00k my pc up, they block bit torrent ..or mirc....or dont work

i tell you whats realllly pissing me off now though, because ive got dmz forced to this comp when i download through bit torrent, i can be downloading at like..4kb/s and not ONE PAGE will load..time out time out time out...FFS ive got a 1.5mb line! i can download at 180kb/s why the hell does 4 completely kill it! im sick of having to close torrent while i go browsing...i wish i could sort this port forwarding out... :o

ive just slammed my fist into the keyboard about 20 times today..in total im seriously suprised it still works...anger gets you know where but it makes me feel better!!!!

anyways..lets give these few a go..got no worries on the cough cough department...better work though ;)

    -edit-

first up to try out of the newer ones suggested was Armor2net...got it installed ..registered blah blah ...its allowed irc..its allowed msn..ive got greeeeeen downloads on torrent...all is good! :D

thanks for all the suggestions tho guys, got a few back up when this one goes tits up ;) they always do for me...i dont get any luck
