    Hey,

Well my Q-Tec 350w is about to die (worst psu I've ever had) and I have no idea what to buy. Could someone tell me what the good brands are and more important, which are the crap ones? ;).

    Thanks.

Well i can recomend Antec (truepower models are very good) and Be Quiets.
Antec is sold in dublin on parliament street in it direct and be-quiets are sold by www.hitide.ie or jes but i cant say i can recomend them at the moment.
There are others to but i dont know them of the top of my head, others do and i'm sure they will let you know.

first of all thank god you found out q-tec are crap but you happen to find out the very risky way.

antec, enermax are very good, head over the the stickies on the tweaking/modding forum as that has a good review of all the psu's around today

    Hi

I have a question about PSUs, perhaps you can help. I read somewhere how to work out what type of PSU you would need for certain hardware. I think I have a 300w PSU and would like to know if it can handle the following hardware:

    Gigabyte GA-7VM400M motherboard
    AMD Athlon XP 2000+ (Thoroughbred)
    512 MB Ram
    1x DVD Rom
    1x DVD Rewriter
    2x Hard drives
    1x Nvidia MX400 Graphics card

It has been working for the last while but I am wondering should I have a higher powered PSU?

Thanks for your help with this.

I dont think you need a more powerfull PSU. I had a codagen one for about 2 years and it was running more stuff then in your list and more powerhungary video card.

As for a good PSU get a OCZ 420watt but there not cheap.
www.Overclockers.co.uk have lots of PSU check them out, postage is not cheap at 22pounds.
