    just got the word im goin into my first kick-boxing competition in a month, at the oul kb for a solid year now...i feel ready but dunno what to expect???its semi-contact.

    any advice from the more experienced among us...

    It depends on what competition it is.

    Generally though you can expect:
    Dodgy refereeing.
    People who think they're a lot tougher than they are.
    Flicky kicks then backfists.
    Backfists then reverse punches.
    Poor organisation.
    A long day.

    I have to agree with the dodgy refereeing, it's a long day, I've done a few myself.
    If you plan on winning anything, keep focused, there are plenty of distractions and generally competitions like that are all over the place.
    Oh yeah, always keep eye contact(you probably know that) and of course keep it simple, a spinning kick to your opponents head will look nice, but the swift kick to the balls you'll get when you mess it up won't! ;)

    nice advice, i would definatly be going in to win but i dont want to let it cloud up my judgement when fighting.hopefully i get a novice who drops the left when throwing a right or vice versa. i've learned this the hard way, hope i can teach some1 that on the day!
