CD-Wow and Laser cards

Why this is a bargain - you don't pay the interest on a Laser card as you do on a credit card - a small saving but a saving nonetheless :D

Heres the deal, went to order Fatboy Slims new album on CD-Wow today and because I'm an Irish customer was offered the option to pay by Laser (which I much prefer over Credit Cards, but thats my opinion).

However when it came to the "fill in the details" screen (before they were sent to Worldpay), I was asked for (and couldn't proceed until I entered) the Security Code of the card.

As Lasers don't have a security code, I had no option but to re-start with my CC and proceed from there

So I banged off an email to CD-Wows customer support, who I have to say responded within 30 mins saying that they are aware of the problem and if you enter 999 for the security code it should all work OK

    Hope it helps!

Mods: sorry if this isn't really a bargain as such, I just couldn't find anywhere else to post the info.

When I'm paying for things using my Laser card and get to the "security code bit", I fill in 3 random numbers and most of the time it works.

You only pay interest on a credit card if you don't pay it in full every month, no interest on a laser card depends on your bank account being in credit.

True, I wish I was diligent enough to pay it off in full every month, but unfortunatly not... :o

My laser card has the security number on the strip where you sign the card on the back.

Just out of curiosity did you get your card recently...?

When mine was reissued in June of this year it was only vaid until the end of Nov 2004 and they included a note/leaflet saying that they (the bank) would be adding new security features and will send a new card before the end of the year - did you get this also...

Is it chip and pin (are they doing this with laser cards...?)

I got mine about 4 months ago. It's not chip and pin. It is only valid for one year cos they will replace it next year with a chip and pin version. It's from NIB bank.
