I need advice on buying a new moniter, my current philips 17ich CRT just decided to turn itself off whenever it wants, and change it's onscreen dimensions at random intervals...
Am pretty broke... so was thinking of this, on komplett.ie

    Samsung 17" CRT Syncmaster 793S TCO99 Monitor

bad choice? good value? or should I just spend some extra money, because I really don't want to have to buy another monitor in the next 2/3 years... I've only had this one for 2 years...

A lot of monitors carry a 3 year on site warrenty . Your current one being a phillips it would be easy to check this out on their website. Failing that give your supplier a ring,

    Dude,
€115 + shipping for a new 17" monitor seems quite alot, why don't you advertise for a second hand monitor on boards, I'm sure you'll get a better deal?
How much do you think komplett.ie would charge for shipping that monitor?

    Japs

Hi. You didnt seem to mention a price bracket. I bought the Samsung 957p 19" from Komplett for 185 euro 2 weeks ago....

Very solid monitor... Im assuming that the 17" cant be far behind. If you play games then get the 19"

Thank you for all the advice guys, much appreciated.
    To answer your questions...

I'm going to follow up the 3 year warranty. Good advice! A total blonde moment there.
Komplett say €10 for shipping - which seems a good deal to me. Plus €21.70 vat, bringing the total to - €125
I don't really trust getting a second hand one, have had bad experiences with second hand computer equipment - paranoid? Yes.
I don't play games, so I think another 17" should be sufficient.

If anyone knows of any bargins going anywhere? Otherwise, if I cant get anywhere with the supplier/philips, I'll probably end up buying the one mentioned.
