is this normal?

Hi, I just want to ask is it normal to feel dizzy after you have been sick?

I am a bit on the plump side- especially my belly, thighs and bottom. I have tried to diet, but I can't stick to them as I love eating and going out. This has been getting frustrating as I want clothes that make me look foxy, but I can't help but focus on my belly.

Anyway to get to the point I have recently gone back to a form of dieting I used in my early teens. ( I am now in my twenties). I have taken to purging myself, now I know there will be a "try exercise, don't eat junk, embrace your body" replies, but I have to say this doesn't work. I hate my body and the only way I feel good bout myself is by doing this. It gives me a buzz. But I've begun feeling really dizzy when I do it and was wondering does this happen to anyone else. (and going by the law of averages at least 20% of the people here will do something similar so please dont say I'm the only one)

oh an does anyone have any drop the pounds but have nice food tips?

Go see a doctor about your eating disorder. The sooner you accept that this is a problem, the sooner you'll get better.

The dizzyness is happening because your body isn't receiving enough nutrition. You need to eat sensibly, not gorge on junk food and then force it out of your body. What you should also remember is that this activity will RUIN your teeth and make you look hideous. Most guys overlook a girl being a bit overweight but I know very few who want to kiss someone with a mouth that looks like a set of joke teeth.

    • Weight watchers lets you eat what you like but in moderation.
    • Exercising increases your metabolism and if you do enough, you can eat what you like (within reason)
    • The Atkins diet apparently works quite well...

Go and see a doctor. Now.

You're fooling yourself into thinking changing your eating habits and "normal dieting" doesn't help because you can't lay off the nice foods. You can. It takes willpower that's all. If you can't put down the pies/burgers/chocolate then you can't lose weight. Purging is only going to make you sicker.

Oh and yes, to answer your question, it's normal. It's perfectly normal for your body to react like that. You're attacking your own body, it's losing strength and it's becoming damaged. If you continue to do this you could end up with permanent damage.

And seriously, cut out the bullshit that changing your eating habits and working out won't help. It does. The only reason it doesn't work for you is because you aren't actually doing it. Take a step back and look at what you're doing, then realise you have to change things and just do it. No one is going to help you lose weight the healthy way if you don't help yourself.

This form of dieting is called bulimia and it's going to destroy you if you keep doing this to yourself. Please, please, please listen to people here! Go see a doctor and explain, because I've known a few people (including myself) who have been where you are now, and trust me, you will end up in a worst state than you'll ever believe. You are going to lose strength, you are going to lose confidence, you will hate yourself and that is not something you need in your life right now. Or EVER. You do not need to do this to yourself.
PM me if you want to talk.

I've been there too. Please talk to someone about this. I know at the moment it may seem like this is the only solution but it is not. This dizziness is caused by the strain you are putting on your whole body when you purge. Purging is very, very dangerous. You are straining your heart, your stomach, and many other organs. Not to mention your teeth which are being rotted away by the bile from your stomach.

Please, please talk to someone. You will be so surprised, cos they will understand.

You love eating and going out more than you hate being fat? You'll have to prioritise here. What's more important your health and happiness or stuffing your face and getting pissed every weekend?

No one will help you unless you help yourself.

i can't tell anyone that knows me, I wouldn't get a minutes peace, my parents and boyfriend especially would freak out that i was doing something so "dangerous". if i cut my food intake (well more then I have been , im eating less which is good, cause I feel less guilty bout eating) then they will freak out that im anorexic.

bulimics are thin,I'm not, and i don't just make myself sick. there are other ways. i used to do just the sick thing, but its affecting me now and it didn't when i was younger. i've lost the knack of skipping meals and not getting caught. im not hungry, people make me eat, i don't want food in me.**

I would like to walk- and as I don't like working out, and our local pool is to far away, and too expensive, so its the only option- but i want to do it alone, and people won't let me. they think I'll get attacked. I don't but they won't listen. I feel perfectly safe walking round at night. there are street lights everywhere and houses so why be afraid?

** what actually happens if you keep doing stuff like that, how does it affect my heart?

Most people in 3rd world countries are thin too, why not move ?
Sorry for being so blunt but yours was a ludacris statement. This is a serious disorder and shouldnt be looked at in such a flippiant manner as they are thin so
they must be doing something right.
Join a gym or look at other dieting techniques that are not harmful such as
weight watchers or atkins. This is a condition like alcoholism that you cannot
allow to get out of control.
Hope all works out well for you in the end.

big_bum you really should read about on the net to educate yourself of the dangers of doing this to your body...

And you shouldn't fool yourself into thinking there's any easy way to get the body you want - you're going to have to work really hard and stop making excuses... and people will support you if you decide t take this route

    BB

Check here, this is just one of many websites that came up when I googled 'effects of bulimia'

    http://www.helpguide.org/mental/bulimia.htm

    Some of the symptom mentioned

What are some effects of bulimia?
Bulimia has serious medical and psychological implications. Some of the major damage that results from bulimia includes:

    Physical effects

electrolyte imbalance caused by dehydration (can lead to irregular heartbeats, heart problems, and even to death)
inflammation of the esophagus from frequent vomiting
    tooth and gum problems
chronic irregular bowel movements and constipation from laxative abuse

So please seek help! If your Boyf or parents are not an option mention it to your doctor, I did and I have never looked back.

Cut the crap, go see a doctor.

Purging IS dangerous, no quotation marks needed. You're quite obviously still in denial and unless you reach the acceptance phase fairly fast, you'll land yourself in hospital.

I would highly recommend this. I've been following the Weight Watchers plan for just under 6 months and have lost just over 4stone (58.5lb) to date.

Whatever you choose to do, STOP this Purging crap! It IS damaging your health and you will not look foxy if you keep it up.

You still put on weight even if you are bullemic - some of the food will have started to digest anyway even if you do make yourself sick. And besides, even if you do loose weight from throwing up, when you start eating properly again, you're gonna put the weight back on again and you'll be back to square one.

My advice - if you can't face going to the doctor, then start eating sensibly. Eat good, healthy food - lots of fresh vegetables, salad (beware of dressing - it's laiden in high cal stuff - so maybe just have salad without dressing), use extra virgin olive oil when cooking (yes all the little things do count), maybe go off the bread for a while - bread gives a bloaty feeling and some people can have a food allergy to yeast. When you feel like you want a snack, have some fruit, and treat yourself every now and again with something nice, be it chocolate / icecream, etc. Everything in moderation.

Also, exercise - it will do you the power of good, not only will you feel good after working out, your body will also feel good. Running would probably be the best or lots of walking. They'd be good if ya ain't too fond of the gym - swimming is also fantastic for toning up. If you do take up running, do it gradually - like walk for a few minutes, then run for one minute, walk for a few, run for one, walk for a few, run for two, etc.

You'll shed the unwanted weight then the proper healthy way, without damaging your insides. Just don't deprive yourself of food - it will do you no good at all.

It's not about your size really, it's about your attitude to food, and to be honest yours sounds very unhealthy.

You actually have to eat a certain amount to allow your body to lose weight. If you eat too little, your body goes into famine mode and sucks every bit of fat it can from the next food you eat. If you eat too much, and gorge yourself on stuff, your body starts to 'think' it needs that amount regularly.

Starving yourself or making yourself sick is doing awful things to your body, not to mention your mind.

Go to Weightwatchers - it works. It might be no harm visit your doctor too, to rule out any hormonal difficulties.

It's as simple as this big_bum, you're either a troll (which it looks like to me) or a bulimic. In either case, leave this place and seek real help. And by help I mean a DOCTOR not weightwatchers.

You mean after you have vomited? Lets be honest on this. And while eating disorders are not uncommon, they are not usual or accpeted behavior.

Vomit puts strain on your internal organs, possibly causing heart palpitations and
I am a bit on the plump side
Are you sure? How plump? height, build and weight please.

Come on big_bum, if you're not taking the piss you know exctly what you're doing to yourself as you allude to it in every post. If you want attention that much, put in the effort and get it via normal means.

please never advise anyone to go on the Atkins diet, it is unbalanced and can create even more problems. I have never heard of adverse effects of weight watchers or any of the balanced diets that allow all food types in moderation.
