Choosing a Band name

We've decided to call our band 'Fired For Theft'

It's a grand name and we can always change it after our first gig.

Anybody think it's good or crap?

I guess no name is gonna sound great straight away!

Sounds good... However I have this idea in my head that you're in a Mental Thrash band. Here's a tip, if you pick a name, repeat it 10 times as fast as you can. If you starts getting muddled by the fifth time, drop it. Think of the drunk punters watching you ina pub/club... Are they going to remember a name they can't say

glad you guys like it, I'm just glad we avoided a 'THE' name and also a one word name which is becoming more and more 'done' although i do like a lot of one word names; mainline, melaton, muse.

That name is awfully similar to 'The Fire Theft', who are quite a well-known band.

Damn you're right! I'd never heard of them but they seem to of some stature in the states!

Ah well. Im not bothered. If they get any bigger and we feel it's right to change we can do that down the line.

Melaton is a sweet band name. I always thought that. They used to be called purple haze before that. Twas a good idea to change. Pity they split-up. Good band.

we hope to be playing 22nd dec in crawdaddy with the reverb, pending the completion of our first demo track over the next few days. I'm real excited! It'll be fun. We'll throw everything we've got at the crowd, walk off stage and have a merry old time. Regardless of how the gig goes we'll enjoy ourselves.

funny you should mention that! The other day one of the lads in melaton was telling me the best thing about them breaking up is never having to tell that fecking story of what the name means ever again! They were called Capone for a brief period also. shudder!

Its a skin tone is it not? Not excactly a long story. I hate when people ask me what the band is called. Even though I like the name, its still embarressing. Same reaction everytime....
