Has anyone ordered anything from NY-camera lately

I placed an order with them a week ago and have received automated email responses to my queries since then stating that they were moving office at the start of october and hoped to be back in business on 07.10.04.

No other response other than this and the order confirmation email that said the order would be dispatched from them between 3 and 5 days.

Hopefully all is well - has anyone got stuff from them in the last few weeks?

If you paid by credit card don't let this worry you too much juggler. I had an order with a company that went bust (80 euro book out of jersey) and after 30 days I was able to get a charge back by sending them copies of the insolvency notification etc. Give your credit card company a call and explain the situation. Whoever I talked to in AIB was very helpful and everything was sorted out with no problems.

Well I've been keeping an eye on my credit card statement and nothing has shown up so I imagine the whole operation has ground to a halt. Looks like I was lucky.

Argh that's bad news, I got a great deal from them on a camera before and had no problems. it was tough to find prices anywhere that matched theirs

It's bizzare alright, I used them twice and had no problems. I'd be slow to use them again given the amount of people complaining.

Actually no, that are lots of German site that only can match the price but beat them. Try the following for example:

www.lagu.de (they are central Europe but supply to Ireland, limited language support)

the other site is one I've been keeping track of some time, as I may be buying a few lens from them. They're called www.technikdirekt.de. They have a feature called "compare" and if you find it cheaper else where they say they match the price.

This one is very cheap and seems to have good reviews http://www.norskit.de/

This is such a bummer - I've had good dealings with them in the past, and I had 2 Canon lenses on order. Thankfully the CC transaction doesn't seem to have gone through. I feel so sorry for the folks who may have lost their deposits on the 20D, though. Ouch.

Yeah Kalikat - I'm in the same boat. I emailed them to cancel the order anyway just in case they get back in business. Ordered from jessops in the end.
