It's not 100% clear but looks like this is a special every Monday....

BEAT THE MONDAY BLUES WITH DUBLIN BUS

On Monday 1st November 2004 you can travel on Dublin Bus for only 85c cash fare between 10 am and 1 pm.

    * This is half the normal price of our most popular cash fares.
    * All children's fares during this time will be set at the school kids fare of 0.45c

Dublin Bus has launched a new initiative which almost everyone can avail of - commuters, school and college students, people who work shifts, part-time or who job share, and shoppers to help ease away those Monday Blues.

Speaking about this initiative Bronagh Rooney, Marketing Manager said, "As the main public transport provider in Dublin, part of our job is to continually look at ways to better our service and products, and how we can we make it both easier and more attractive for our customers to travel into the city. With Winter well and truly with us and everyone at work, school, college or even doing some early Christmas shopping we have focused on "Monday's" - and are starting a promotion which we hope will impact positively for everyone".

Not trying to be negative here but 10am to 1pm doesn't help anybody. Commuters/school children are at work/school already before they can use the reduced fare. I am not saying it's a bad thing, just the usual Dublin Bus cowpoo.

I remember when Cork has CAR FREE DAY a few weeks back. Bus Eireann offered FREE bus travel for everybody from 10-4. Of course they wouldn't do it from 8-6 so most of their regular passengers who travel to & from work could benefit!! Rip Off's :(

it's to encourage people to use the bus off peak

its also to encourage people to go into the city centre to shop

at the moment dublin bus does not have a lot of spare capacity at peak times so it would not make much sense to offer cheaper fares then

If the "great" Dublin Bus Corporation wouldn't send two 7s at the same time with another one following five minutes later then they would have more than enought capacity at any time. How come that the public transport system works everywhere else but Dublin. Even in London (which is ten times bigger than Dublin). The same on the 46A.

I really hope they get sold soon and the lazy feckers get a boot up their arses.

yeah that would fix the whole city if they got the 7 right
have you ever rang them and asked why the buses are that way you might get an explanation you can understand
i know nothing about the 7's but a rough guess would be that there is a lot of customers at the start of the route so they cluster the buses to ensure capacity further along the route
otherwise all the buses will fill at the start and people further along the route would not be able to get on
    but thats a guess
as for the 46a its the best route in the city a bus every 5 minutes during the peak

and of course dublin bus has one of the lowest subsidies per capita
londons bus transport has only improved since ken livingstone started putting
millions of pounds in he got from the congestion charge

if it is sold see if your service improves ( it wont)
or if you just get another eircom where profit becomes the only goal
and the government has to offer 1.8 billion euro to try and entice them to roll out broadband which they turned down
the only people who got a kick in the arse is the taxpayer and bend over because you are going to keep getting kicked in the arse

So you are trying to tell us that every 15 minutes a single nr 7 leaves town?

Wake up, man, just wake up.
