Real Alternative

Anyone got this working with Firefox? I've tried during two different installations and both times it fails to work. I've installed everything - classic player and all - and also just the Real codecs to try open it in WMP10. The latter says it doesn't recognise the extension, try anyway and it can't play.

The ugly Windows Classic Player "can't render file".

I've tried on various sites, etc. Using FireFox PR, with XP Home SP2.

    Anyone?

Hrmm... the links work perfectly for me. You're problem is either a fecked up install of Firefox, or a fecked up install of the Real Alternative codec, OR, a fecked up OS.

Try reinstalling both the latest version of Firefox and the codec and see if it helps. Other than that, i don't know. It should be ok.

Yeah they both work fine for me.

    Thanks guys.

The OS is just after a clean install.
FF is PR and I was hesitant to upgrade to the new one as it's (still) not announced on the site. Do you reckon I should?
Real Alt: Well this will be yet another re-install so I don't see how I'm doing it wrong?!

    I tried Firefox again recently.

Two things annoyed me enough to dump it again.

1.) Couldn't use the configurable "back" button on my Logitech MX1000. It just didn't go back to the previous page (works in IE)
2.) The list for quicknames in Hotmail was all screwed up.

Well, PR is a hell of a lot better than "Beta", which it has been up til now. Definately get the latest one! Its got even less bugs than before :p Install firefox, then install Real Alternative. Real Alt should recognise the firefox install, and give you the option to install the plugin for firefox.

Odd....I have the MX510 and the back button works fine for me in mozilla and firefox. Maybe you need a new version of "mouseware" from the logitech site. I use the latest and greatest (whatever that is).

I dunno if you misunderstand me - I have PR and have had since the day it came out! I'm just upgrading to the unannounced version that's been posted recently. I always installed Real Alternative after and it knew there was a mozilla app there.

I guess I'll just do without.

Real media is crap anyway - but useful! :D
