I got my ticket for this yesterday and I want to know is anyone else going to this gig as well?

    This quote is from Ticketmaster.ie
    Point Theatre, Dublin – 12 January 2005

Velvet Revolver, the first supergroup of the 21st century, play the Point Theatre, Dublin on 12 January 2005.

The band brings together three former members of one of rock’s greatest groups, Guns N’ Roses. Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum - together with charismatic frontman Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots) and guitarist Dave Kushner (Wasted Youth; Dave Navarro) amongst others - combine to make up Velvet Revolver.

The band's life began with a spring 2002 jam session that reunited the three ex-Guns N' Roses band mates. The addition of Scott Weiland and Dave Kushner then saw the birth of Velvet Revolver, and in April 2004 they released their debut album Contraband.

Don’t miss your chance to see Velvet Revolver, live at the Point Theatre, Dublin on 12 January 2005. Tickets are on sale now.

perhaps it was referring to the fact that the lead singer scott weiland used to be in the mighty STP.

NME have confirmed that The Datsuns will be supporting the UK dates (which probably includes the Dublin date aswell).

Uh. You've decided you're not going because of the support act?

Maybe you missed what cena quoted. SLASH!! Come on! SLASH!!! The world's greatest guitar hero! SLASH!!! Otherwise known as GOD! Christ, didn't you ever do RE at school?

guess who owns the rights to all the GNR songs? yup, Axl

AFAIK the only song they have the right to play is It's so Easy but I'm not sure...

    Don't know about STP songs....

Surely they can play whatever songs they want. They're not exactly putting it out on a record.

Surely if it worked like that, everytime a cover band played a GNR song, Axl could sue them!

I've heard recordings of them playing Mr. Brownstone and Sex Type Thing live so I'm pretty sure they can play what they like.

I think It's So Easy and Mr. Brownstone are just Slash's personal favourites because he played them on thwe Slash's Snakepit sets as well. You might get paradise city if you're lucky as well.

Ok I stand corrected, but they've never played SCOM in the past....

this is everything they've played so far:

I hope they play Sex Type Thing, I just hope Scott doesn't decide to get naked on stage!
