POTENTIAL PLAN: Boards.ie TV awards!

I was thinking of something like this, wehre users would get to vote for the nominations in each category and then it's whittled down to 4/5 nominations in each category and then user would get another chance to vote for the winner of that cattgory

For Example, say we did a category for "Best TV comedy series" we would all vote via PMs or text or something like that, then after about a month of voting, we'd have a definitre TOP 5, and then users would be given ONE VOTE AND ONE VOTE ONLY! this time, and then the judges would reveal the comedy with most votes to the users of Boards.ie

But, of course, it wouldn't be a big glitzy ceremony like the Emmy's, these announcements would be made in a topic, just as any other topic on Boards.ie!

Now, there's a poll on top saying "Do you think a "Boards.ie T.V. awards would be good idea?", you can either vote yes or no! If, after a week, the majority say yes, I'll try and do my best to make this possible in the near future!

It's been done on the Music board before.
No need for pms, just start a thread for each category (limit the number of cataegories), then have people post the names of who they think should be in it. Set a time limit on this. Then go through the threads and pick out the top 4/5 mentioned programmes.
Then you could make a thread for each one, make a new poll and have people vote on the nominees. Set a time limit again and voila you have your winners.
Of course it's all very messy, and probably wont be very successful.

We could have a category like "Most difficult thread to post on", then again the Soccer one would win it easy as its easier getting into Fort Knox.

Setup a sub-forum for it, and set dedicated mods to keep it running smoothly

Well, we now know that a mojority of 21% want this Boards.ie TV awrds to happen, so it will become a reality in the coming weeks!

Firstly, want to give out a quick draft on how this whole setup could happen:

1. Today-15th Nov: I will try and sort out some catogories for this awards, with suggestion being accpeted and considered. A reply will be given to all catogory suggestions!
2. The rest of Nov: Nominations will be voted by certain means(Hopefully we can sort out a system!) and by.....
3. 1st Dec: There will be a week long campagin until the 8th to try and get the word around to everyone about the awards and to vote. Nomination will be narowed down on the 1sr Dec.
4. 8th -22nd Dec: Voting will take place over this two week block. If we have 14 catogories, we will have a vote on each catogory each day.
5. 23rd Dec: The wiinners will be annonunced. (This next bit may not happen, however)Any appeals can be made but will not be accepted after 6th Jan!
6. If the appeals happen, we will take votes on what catorgories need to be revoted/recoundted. After this, the announcements made then will be double-checked one last time adn that will be the final decision
7. By the 31st Jan(Proably earlier) the final announcement will be made. Any arguments will nto listened to after this date!

If anyone has any suggestion to this setup drafted, please have them in by next weekend!
