I was just looking at it in the light (turned off) and there is a visible line going straight down the screen in the middle (its similar to color of a calculator screen when pressed) - its still visible when i turn it on.
    - i haveNT dropped this btw

    is this normal ?

    :(

    edit: typo

You've dropped it and you're wondering where the mysterious line came from?

Ok, you must have typo'd in your first post.
If you haven't dropped it, then no it's not normal.

    I'd send it back.
Something like that would bug the hell out of me.
    Specially if it's brand new.

    Placebo,
I have followed your posts on your Ipod. If I had the bad taste you have towards it I'd get rid of it.
In the past when I bought something and it just didn't feel right I either returned it, sold it on or gave it away!!!
Consider these options as I feel this Ipod and you were not meant to be!!!

Apple reserves the right to refuse service on iPods that are outside their warranty if damage has occurred due to accident, abuse or misuse. In such event, Apple will return your original iPod to you without providing service

 theyll probably think i damaged it

Thats probably just a clause to cover their ass. I'm sure they will check the item and fix it. No harm in trying anyway. What do you have to lose anyways? :)
