    My current set up is

    pioneer a-204r amp
    Mission 732 speakers on stands
    Technics SL-PG370A cd player
    Sony ST -SE370 tuner

I'm considering upgrading the amp as it seems to be delivering less power on one channel than the other. Can anyone recommend an amp in a reasonable price range (not too high end)

Do I also need to look at a better cd player?

    Recommendations please!

Yamaha AX-396 has served me well for just over a year, it's 60W RMS per channel into 8ohms - roughly 100W RMS into 4 ohms, 5 line inputs, 1 phono input, 2 tape loops. One of the tape loops has a tape-monitor and the CD in has a direct-coupling switch. The power rating is quite conservative - i rarely have to turn mine up anywhere near even 1/3. Mine cost 269 euros in peats.

Depending on the size of your room you might want to upsize to the AX-496 (80W / channel at 8ohm) which also has a separate record-out switch and has tone bypass on all channels.

If your gaff is really big you might want the AX-596 which is 100W/channel and has gold-plated input connectors as well as pre-out/main-in loop.
