Hi, this is driving me nuts, and there's probably a simple solution. I normally have my computer at work on mute, but I'm in the office alone atm without headphones and I want to listen to music. I've turned off the mute on the volume control panel, I've searched the back of the computer for a switch or volume dial and haven't found one, yet I'm still not getting any sound. Anyone here know what the problem could be?

    Thanks
    fozzle

Is the wave volume turned up.... double click the speaker icon in the taskbar and ensure the faders are up on the master and Wave.

Yup, I've had them up, down, on full, on a variety of levels, nothing I do seems to make a blind bit of difference.

Well check in the properties to ensure you are on the playback mixer, and that the hardware is actually working.... alternatively you can look in the Hardware settings in system. You could put on the radio tbh.

    Radio? That'd be nice....

    /wanders off to check properties...

Nah, still not working, maybe my speakers are just broken. Never mind.

    Thank you!

Unless the computer has a built in speaker connected to the sound card, and most don't, then you won't get any sound without plugging headphones or speakers into it.

Most computers have a "buzzer/speaker" but that's so they can go BEEP!
If you had Win98 you can install a win 3.11 speaker driver that sound godawful 'cos it really a buzzer...
