The new Dublin Bus garage at Harristown, close to Dublin Airport, opens in two stages this weekend and next.

It's the first wholly new garage for Dublin Bus since Phibsboro opened in the early 1970s (Broadstone, opened in 2000 was just a temporary re-use of space formerly used for storing withdrawn buses)

As a result there will be a major shuffle round of routes between garages, as follows:

    This weekend:

    Route Current New
    ========================

    13/A Summerhill Harristown
    17A Summerhill Harristown
    33B Summerhill Harristown
    230 Summerhill Harristown
    123 Broadstone Summerhill
    27B Clontarf Harristown
    102 Clontarf Harristown
    105 Clontarf Harristown

    Next weekend:

    10/A Broadstone Phibsboro
    19/A Broadstone Phibsboro
    40/A/B/C/D Phibsboro Harristown
    83 Phibsboro Harristown
    238 Phibsboro Harristown
    26 Conyngham Road Phibsboro
    66/A/B Conyngham Road Phibsboro
    67/A Conyngham Road Phibsboro

Routes 13/A and also 27B are extended in service out to the new garage, which is located close to the end of the airport runways.

The new depot will increase space (and thus future capacity) in the system, as well as alleviating overcrowding in garages such as Clontarf and Conyngham Road, which is so bad that buses have to be parked on the road outside the depot at night.

    Isnt it great!

Oh by the way , while queuing for the 13 this morning, the 13 bus scheduled for 6.40 it didnt come.
Neither did the 13a at 6.50.
Finally at 7.05 a bus came, but it didnt service either the silloge road, or the Shangan areas, so people q'ing there were left stranded further.

I really welcome the improvemnt to dublin bus services.

    X
