Right, first off i never had a need or interest for satellite, until i seen the new ITV3 schedule :D

Basically, i want that channel, but have never ventured into the whole satellite thing. Can someone PLEASE tell me whats involved, ie what equipment do i need, and do places in dublin stock it -as in, can i just go to Blanchardstown etc and have it up and running by weekend?

    TIA ;)

ITV3 isn't available on satellite at all & probably won't be until the new year it seems.

It will only be available on Freeview (Digital Terrestrial) & ntl & Telewest (Digital Cable in the UK only) when it launches on Monday.

Yep, very doubtful for anytime soon, they were saying they were planning to add ITV2 a while ago, but that still hasn't happened.

As regards sat installers have a look at the sticky above on sat shops. Best to deal with someone you know, when time comes.
Also, look at the thread on this forum about ITV going free to air. There are some interesting negotiations going on at the moment which will determine the future transmission of ITV channels. The worst scenario is that they'll stay within the Sky camp and to receive their channels you'll have to buy a Sky receiver and dish and to subscribe to one of their packages.
But as Celticfc says ITV3 does not exist as such at the moment, they're simply running some test transmissions.
You've plenty of time to weigh up your options after the end of Nov., when we'll know what ITV is doing.

ITV3 previews are currently free-to-air on satellite - but are blocked out on Digiboxes.

ITV 3 Will only be visible with a uk ftv card. I heard from my source at ITV
that ITV 3 Will be available on SKY but only via other channels . No EPG
Launch yet as ITV are not sure yet if they are going Free To Air.

More when I hear More. ;)

    this was on digitalspy

    • ITV3 is broadcasting on Astra at 28degrees East 10.906 V 22000 5/6
    • It cannot now be received with a SKY Digibox as it has been blocked
    • It can be received with a FTA receiver with no encryption enabled
    • SKY AND ITV are in talks to get the channel launched onto the EPG
    • In the meantime ITV3 has launched on Cable and DTT
