    Hey all,

During the early to mid 90's, I was an avid listener of the John Peel show. Growing up in Dublin with only a handful of small independent record shops and pre-internet, it was nigh on impossible to get my hand on new, good music. John's show, fuzzy reception and all, was like a lifeline to me, and just last week on a visit home I was searching through all the many, many 'Peelie' compilation tapes I'd made. There were tons!
I was asked to make this weeks show a tribute of sorts to John, and I really wasn't sure what the best way to approach it was. I know some people vowed to play only the obscurest of new releases, which is more than fitting, but I thought I'd be better served to spend a few hours going through my collection and picking out records that I rushed out, bought and treasured as a result of hearing them on his programme. My initial fear was would I be able to find enough music to sustain a 2 hour show? After 20 minutes I released I wouldn't be able to fit a fraction of them into even a 2 day show. That man cost me a fortune over the years!

Anyway, it was a privelige to dedicate this programme to him, and each track brought back many fond memories. Thanks for the music, John!
