I love the game again. Got a ticket in the freeroll and ended up finish 7th, €850 richer.

Lost most of my chips on an interesting hand. Blinds were 5000/10000, I had about 65000. One limper utg, I'm in SB with Q,9 diamonds, I call, BB checks. Flop come K,J,8 - 2 diamonds. UTG checks, I go all-in, BB fold, UTG calls.

He turns over the Aces of course, but I'm still not looking in bad shape with my flush draw and inside straight draw. Turn brings 9 - no diamond, now I have even more outs, any diamond any 10 and q. River was a blank and I was spanked from then. I had a feeling he had the aces as nobody limps utg with the blinds that big without a monster, but my hand just grab the chips after that flop - stupid hand, I'm gonna cut it off . :D. Still think I'd play it the same again. If I had of hit one of my outs I would have been in very good shape to challenge for the top spot.

Made a €200 profit in a cash game later, so was up over a grand for the night, not bad considering I didn't have a ticket going in.

Norman won the tourney after a semi-deal, with a young guy who's name I didn't catch. 9,000ish for first and 7000ish for second. Norman will be talking about his 9,2 off for years. About fifteen players left he raises all-in on the button for about 30,000, Sean in the BB calls him in a flash turning over pocket Kings.

Norman proceeds to make his house with the 9,2 off and Sean made a very impressive recovery from short stack to 5th or 4th.

Watch out, the Devil is back ;)

nice one Davey, back in business!

think I have to get into more freerolls and finally give the big one a shot...

Corban, he didn't call with 9,2 he was stealing with them - huge difference.

Yeah I played in the freeroll before, starts at 5pm on the last Thursday of the month.

Well done Davey. You were playing solid all night.

I had a right up and down evening. Came 5th in the freeroll (4 tickets). :(

Then played a ST sat and reraised two all ins with JJ. Bigger stack calls my bet with AQ and rivers the A to knock three of us out and only leaving 2. If I had taken down that pot I reckon I would have won the table. I was leaving, feeling really sorry for myself and decided to gamble a ten spot on the roulette. Turned it into 200 :D . I was actually up to 270 at one stage and thought it was an omen to play the big one but was fairly knackered at that stage and decided to pocket the cash.

Good result, well done... it's definately one of the best tournaments around! Not sure I understand what you're saying after the flop here:

Are you not UTG after the flop? Can't seem to follow the play here at all. BTW, can you remember who slow-played the Aces?.
    Thanks.

Well done Davey, I too won a ticket in the free roll, but no magic at all in the big game. Got seated at a good standard table, people were playing initially like it was a cash game so lots of big action passing chips around, i managed to increase my stack a little only to get involved with one of these cash players who crippled me. Struggled on then for a few more hours and went out 40 something

Well done Davey winning the side bet with myself and Hector must have been sweeter though, Was it Niall o'callaghan who split it?

I dealt the game and got narked at one of my "customers" who was being an utter knob end but then I dealt him out of the game and felt a little better.

At 2:00 am I finished and went to the cash game for a bit of a gamble, tired narked a little still and poker-blind by that stage, it probably wasnt a good idea when first hand I get runner runnered and busted down to 12 euro. FFS, I just lost all the cash I worked for!

Next hand I toss the 12 euro in on top pair, bad kicker. In Omaha! Runner runner for a straight and I'm back to 75 euro. Oh what a fickle game!

Get moved table and hit the nut flush and play it nicely for another 100 euro take down. Get moved to Brendans table and get dealt some NICE omaha hands. Lots of double suited high cards and connectors etc. Little of it hits but I keep my head above water.

Then I get another one of those hands I was talking about all week. KJJx. KJ are suited in clubs. Flop comes QJT two clubs. Nice! I shove all in (having raised initially). That should get some ... "Reraise to 350"..."Call" "Call".... oh no.... not again...

Twice this week I've been wiped out on almost the same hand but this hand is even stronger. I know now I'm facing the nuts and several strong draws but its back to me for the 10 euro I have left and well, thats a no brainer!
Turn is a club giving me the second nuts and it holds up for a pot of 750 Euro. I leave soon after (threw about another ~130 back into some crazy hands for the giggles and then left).
I knew I had to keep pressing the +ev hands but I'm very glad it hit hahahha. From 12 euro to 620 finally is a resurrection worth of Easter!).

Played Devil, I was watching you on second last table and willing you on. Nice way to break your run!

Haha, your dead right, I wrote that was I was knackered. I went all-in on the flop, their was no check on the flop from the Aces. It was Sean one of the older members who slow played them, although a flat call utg with those blinds is as good as waving them in everyone's face.

If the blind weren't so big I would have played the hand differently, I was 30,000 down from being blinded on 2 rounds. There's no room for sitting around, it was a great flop that I had to attack.

Yeah Oscar, I'm fairly sure that was Niall in second, wearing a cap right?

Yeah shaved head wearing a cap if i remember right with 2 tables left he was in 1 4, I had a terrible nights poker going out 70th or so then went on tilt in the cash game when i had been cruising

Was just tallking to Niall - he came 10th. Said it turned into a bit of a crapshoot with antes at 5k 10k.

Ithink I went out about 40th. Bit of a frustrating night personally.
Tournament clock was started at 9pm sharp. There was still loads of players not seated, not all the dealers were at their tables, and it was all a bit of a shambles.
At my table everyone was seated and ready to go but with no chips! 5 minutes later after we've missed a reasonable amount of the firstround of blinds we begin.
One hand: I hit an openender on the flop, one player bets the A56 flop (I hold 78) one caller, so I call thinking I'm getting decent odds. Blank on the turn, its bet again, again the callers aherad of me calls, so I call to see the river. River is a beautiful 9, I bet it and the both fold to my obvious straight.

Get moved up to the top floor. Not the greatest set up. Dodgy tables shoved together, the dealers have to communicate with the poker desk to find out the blinds with very dodgy walkie-talkies, and its freezing cold. Then the lights go out. Everyone stops and while we sit there in darkness the tournament clock ticks on for a further 5 minutes while we all call for it to be stopped, no joy.

Break for dinner. I'm not getting many cards, getting blinded down a little. Get Aces in the SB. There's a raise to 650 on 75-150 blinds from late position. I raise to 1400, basically a min raise. This was my first silly mistake, because a raise like that screams AA, possibly KK but more than likely AA. the other players calls.

Flop is KQ10, K and 10 of hearts. Not a great flop for me. Quite likely that the other player could have hit a straight (AJ) or 2 pair (KQ), while I simply have a gutshot to the nut straight. Its checked to the river when a 3rd heart falls and I pay off his value bet. He has QJ hearts for the flush.
If I had pushed on the flop he probably would have called me with an open ended straight flush draw, plenty of outs.

I get moved down to the balcony. All-in on 77, called by AK, he hits his A on the river good night.

A disappointing tournament for me personally. And I really hope the fitz gets their act together for future end of month tourneys. They need to turn latecomers away once they start it, cos otherwise it'll just get messy like last night. IMHO.

I talked to Luke about how the Tournie ran (you might have noticed the sudden elevation in technology in the seating process, my addition to the mix :) )

Yeah, things were a little ropey upstairs and far far from perfect (I was dealing up there myself for a while). Luke said to me that he accepts the criticism (and he was annoyed with himself, I think) and that things will improve next month. There were some pluses in that the tech worked well and the first 90 people were seated quicker then usual. The tables are going to be clearly numbered next month and upstairs will be more furnished.

My personal read of it was that people didnt really think they'd start on time and when they did it was inevitably going to be chaotic. Next month it kicks off at 8:30 and reg will CLOSE at 8:15 for the first round of seating. This is good news as we all wanted the tournie to start earlier and the club is listening to that (primaraily from these boards!). Personally I think what happened on Thursday was just the pain of change that needed to be taken and was inevitable. Myself, I'd have turned them away after 9:10 and let them bitch and moan, and I wouldnt have accomodated people upstairs but Luke typically wanted as many people to get a game as possible and it backfired a little with the electrics.

I just enjoyed sitting in the cash game with a huge pile of chips and a big f-off grin on my gob thinking "I'd have had to come 6th to do better then this" :)

well played devil, must have been strange not coming in the top 2 for a change!!! but a good sign of return to form none the less

Sounds like this seating method is an intervention for the better Tom and good luck with it for future tourney's

Tis true the more people then the bigger the prize fund. The Fitz really needs to clamp down on late comers though. Its fine for the rebuy tournaments but saying the €250 game starts at 9pm sharp and still be seating people 20 minutes later is silly.

I'm sure it'll be grand for next month though.

I'd say about 70 people were seated on time and started playing, 20 of the others were on problem tables (no dealers or no chips) which annoyed Luke (with himself). Much as I spend a lot of time there lately, I dont work for the club but I'd be pretty comfortable saying that that wont be happening again! :)
The others were late comers and were accomodated (not for the prize pool etc but just that I think it physically pains Luke to turn away someone who wants a game !).

I think what you are saying Lafortezza is clearly being heard and acted on though. Seating wasnt good (other then my brilliant seating system of course... ahem!)

Thats my take on it and its not my place to say more. :)
