But says there is a problem with host computer or else to tick some box which allows use of password in properties. I looked and they were already ticked but still will not connect. My password and username are definitely correct. Anyone else having problems? Am on dun laoighre exchange.

There is currently an outage in the Leinster Area.
Do you have the Prestige 623 or 630?
There is a message on the Support line 1890 923 111 that states this problem.

ah balls! Knew it would have been something like that. As far as i remember i have the default blue modem which comes with iol broadband. cant remember name at all as i am in college reporting the problem.

Any ideas how long it will be until it is resumed? PS: is 1890 a free number?

Its a Local Call charge. 1 cent a min or so.
I work in Tech supp so you will just be told what i have told you.
    Any queries PM me.

It should be working again, i'm on dun laoghaire exchange too.
I called that number earlier and got the message about the problem.
I'm glad they put the message up to save me having to wait for a tech to be told the same thing.

I wonder what the problem was cos it was still sync'd with the exchange.
Maybe iol were flooded last night.

Yeah i'm getting horrible pings tonight as well.
    Even to iol games servers.

Also, no offence Diabolus but i don't make a habit of giving out usernames or my phone number, even if you do say you work for iol.

Actually Diabolus, I must say kudos to you for coming onto these boards and trying to help people out. A lot of people having problems, post here instead of ringing up your Tech Support line. IOL should assign some people to read through these forums!

It went again today for a couple of hours.
Only just come back on for me.

    What's the story?
It seems to just be iol equipment as i'm still sync'd with the exchange even when i can't get on.

I'd assume it has something to do with the horrible storms we've been having the last few days. Weather has been very bad.

I was looking for something a little more in-depth.

Eircom stated that they sorted the problem and the cause was never really filtered down to Res Tech. It seems like a DSLAM went down.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,819 ✭✭✭K!LL!@N

Usually if it's a problem with the DSLAM i would lose sync on the modem.
But no such problems, the last few days.

Yes thats normally as the cards that fail would be the dsl.
The ones that failed this time very rarely go.
They were related to teh PPPoE Authentication.
