    Hi.
I'm looking for a bass and a drum players to play some "new-eletronic-modern" remakes from brazilian jazz and bossa-nova music in Dublin. Any/some jazz influences will be appreciated. Other musicians would be welcome!
    Regards,
    Eduardo Miranda

Which songs have you got in mind?

The idea is to get some 'classics' brazilian jazz/bossa from Tom Jobim, Vinícius de Morais and João Gilberto (like 'Insensatez', 'Garota de Ipanema', 'Wave' and so on) and remake them in something more "modern". I don't know exactly how this "modern" will sound, but to be simple and give you a remote idea, look for artists like Nils Petter Molvaer, Wibutee amd Bugge Wesseltoft (you can find them on the net).

Hey Buddy I am interested in this but unfortunatly right now my free time is very (very) limited. Keep looking for drummers at least and if you cant find one after christmas give me a shout and I may have more time then!
    Cheers

    Yo Eduardo,
I'm a double bass player and am very interested in this. I currently play in a band which blends electronic sounds with regular instruments. We use orchestral string samples and otherworldly electronic sounds.
How do you propose to make use of the electronic element?
Also the drummer in my band would also be interested in this, he generally plays in a funky progressive style.

    Hi Eduardo

I like the sound of this. Blending classic brasilian music with electronica could make for some great sounds! You mentioned Nils Petter Molvaer & Bugge Wesseltoft - I really like what they've done. Particularly Nils.

As for me, I'm a drummer. I'm currently playing with a group that mixes drums, bass, bazouki, sax, tabla & kim. Kinda strange... I also played samba (and nothing else!) for 2 years.

Don't know if you've got any musicians lined up already, but I would be interested in seeing what you've got going on. I think the brasilian instrumentation could add a lot to something like this - rather than just staying within the traditional jazz setup. Maybe tamborim, pandeiro, some surdo?

You can mail me at aidanodonovan@yahoo.com if you want to chat.

    Aidan.
