watching dvd files in windows media player

Hi Lads, have a prob here - cant get my xp media player to play dvd (*.vob) files; looked around on the ms website and they suggested buying a decorder pack (as i havent got a dvd-rom) Is there any place on the net i can get those files or find some way around the prob?

Sourceforge: Media Player Classic. Looks a bit like the old Media Player 6.4 which is really handy (esp the timeline all the way along the bottom of the window when you're looking for a particular bit in a clip) and will play virtually anything... (if you have codecs installed obviously - all media players are just a front-end for directshow)
