Romantic Songs eh? How about fúckin in the bushes by Oasis? Or another good band is Anal Cúnt. Or Slayer.

On a serious note though, George Michael's album Older is full of very chill out kind of romantic songs. Alot of Prince's stuff is quite romantic as well. Then again alot of it's pure filth too, but there ain't nothin wrong with that, say it brotha!

    Cat Stevens
    Elvis
    Sinatra
Dean Martin all have good romantic songs.

Most of those tunes would have me vomiting. Not very romantic at all. Although you have a few good uns I suppose. China In Your Hand though. Ha ha.
UB40 - I cant help falling in love with you (also Elvis version)

Anyone who likes this version, should get their head checked out. It's sacrilege :) At least you mentioned Elvis's version though.
    The Spice Girls - 2 Become 1

Seriously though Billy. That's one of the funniest posts I've read in a long time. Cheers. :D

    Yet Another great list, Billy!

for a stray from the mainstream, chuck in a couple of random Elvis songs..

'Thrill of your love' from 1960
'Please don't stop loving me' from 1965
'Do you know who I am' from 1969
'True love travels on a gravel road' from 1969

Even die hard Elvis fans would be impressed at hearing those..

    Apart from Elvis -

God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
Vision of you - Belinda Carlisle
Afterglow of your love - The Small Faces

Just a few off the top of my head there..

    Kevin.

Each to their own. You're music really does make me feel sick though. :)

If you're a die hard Elvis fan, why would you be impressed at hearing songs that you would have heard already?! Those songs never did an awful lot for me though. There's better Elvis stuff out there.

You're absoloutely correct. My point was, if a mate of mine stuck on a 'love songs' compilation cd, and any of those songs came on, I'd be pretty impressed they'd discovered them. Also, I didn't want to list off all the good Elvis love songs, I wouldn't know where to stop ;)

I just thought of a few Elvis tunes worth getting while I was having a smoke.

    "Suppose"
    "It's Midnight"
    "Separate Ways"
    "I'll remember you"
"What now my love" - Live version is unbelievable.
"Just Pretend" - again, amazing live version.
    "It's Midnight"

... but as irlirishkev says we'd be here for a few hours if we were to list them all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,505 ✭✭✭irlirishkev

Suppose - Never really thought much of it.. although I seem to be in the minority.
Kudos on 'Just Pretend', and yes, the live version is just mind blowing.
'I'll remember you', is one of my favourite Elvis songs.. I'm surprised I forgot it. I like the studio version more so than the shorter live version.

'Indescribably Blue' - Is a powerful 'from the heart' type ballad I'd overlooked also.. Beautifully sung. That would make a nice addition..

    Okay, there's loads of them!!!

    K.
