Well.... if you're watching MTV in the first place you deserve to be told what you should and shouldn't watch. It's spoon fed drivel for the bland masses.

If anyone ever sees me sitting down in front of MTV please... PULL THE PLUG.

**** sympathy! I don't need your ****in' sympathy, man, I need my ****ing johnson!

About 4 years ago when MTV Europe became MTV UK & Ireland for us, it really went to pot. There was a certrain charm with Eurotrash-stylee presenters introducing the latest 2 Unlimited single in badly broken English.

And they never should have let Ray Cokes go.

OK, this isn't very P.C., but why would a deaf person watch MTV?

to look at the scantily clad women dancing on TV is the answer you are looking at.

MTV sucks large cóck in hell on most occasions. whatever happened to Greatest Hits? that was the best show ever.

Isn't it a lot to do with the fact that for every day older and wiser you get, MTV seems to get that little bit crappier in response?

speakin of the old presenters does anyone remember Enrico the italian bloke when it was mtv europe? he was the first presenter of mtv select when it started back in early 96. he had the coolest taste in music and slagg the bolox off ppl who requested boybands..........funny stuff

hi, i know it's really pedantic, but it's not censuring......it's censoring.
censuring is something totally different, it means to judge.

oh, and by the way, you're right, mtv sucks ass. mtv2 is the way forward!!

The only good program on MTV was 120 minutes and I think they only showed that in the States.

(Surprisingly) It was 2 hours long and used to show Sonic Youth and Sugar videos which was cool.

In general Music Television is a bad idea. Videos are grand for about two minutes but they're mostly there to distract you from the mostly mediocre music. I remember a guy once saying to me that he was buying an average CD single because it had a cool video!

Turn on Here Comes the Night on Today FM and LISTEN to music instead of watching it.

    /me don't want my MTV

I watch it a bit, and its far from perfect, but it can be very enjoyable. The live sections in particular, yesterday I turned it on and was treated to Mercury Rev and SFA playing live, amongst others.Thats ok by me smile.gif

I dont think MTV gets worse as you get older, its the channel itself, MTV Europe was extremely compulsive viewing, everything from the funny broken english VJs, Ray Cokes bless him - IMO the funniest presenter ever, Naughtly Nympro Nina - remember her!, the diverse range of music MTV playing back then, pop, dance, techno, indie, rock, metal, thrash, death, grindcore, punk, every music genre had its own show devoted to it and all were excellent, Headbangers Ball and Into The Pit along with 120 minutes were all excellent, all shows carried excellent live coverage of concerts and especially all the summer festivals throughout UK and Europe. progs like MTV at the Movies, Club MTV, News at night, were all top, nothing was ever censored on MTV Europe even during the day, only stuff that got censored was material bought in from MTV America which nothing could be done about. Apart from all the excellent programming the ads on MTV Europe also played an important role, they were as funny/interesting as the programmes themselves, the swedish and french ads were the best, even the trashy german/dutch harcore Thunderdome techno CD adverts were funny in their own little way. It was all so European yet appealed so well to every country, didnt matter what language you spoke we all loved it so much. Now look at what got, the switchover to MTV UK & Ireland was bad enough, all the character and charm was killed stone dead along with the diverse range of programming and music. Now its gone beyond funny its so bad, crapy presenters who are too fond of themselves all with the crapiest taste in music, boring programmes must of which arent anything got to do with music. And when MTV do play music it is 100% chart boy-girl band crap. And as for the ads its just like watching RTE. If I was 12 I would not watch MTV. At least we got MTV2 tho, at least theres a half decent attemt at making a good music channel, some days its crap some others its reall good. All we need now is MTV to ditch the alternative on MTV2 and call it MTV Hits 2. If that does happen I'd nearly get rid of my Sky Digital.

I agree with adnans cartoon network rulez (said ti earlier)

on MTV note -i flick through quickly and if i see a song i like i watch... but when its over i change again. Screw the programmes they've just gone down.

p.s How about karrang? i just watch it once or twice but a ffriend of mine has it on when he aint watching something...kinda like a radio?

    ahh well

The worst I've seen is in Weezer's song Hash-Pipe. They actually changed the name of the song to Half-Pipe. What are they trying to achieve by doing this? Any kid could figure out what he's saying. And I dont see whats wrong with the word. Hash-Browns anyone? Hash is just another word for a mixture. Its gonna keep happening...people are gonna start seeing the double meanings in words and soon everything will be censored..WE'RE DOOMED!!! rolleyes.gif

Life sucks, but does it swallow?

    MTV is sh.ite these days.

There are other much better music channels (Kerrang, Q, etc.) which you can flick through. Theres normally some reasonably OK song on, but not on MTV!

I am not sure if MTV ever got bad, most people who remember it when it first came over here are just older now and less stoned now. It always sucked. A non-stop pop music channel could only appeal to the most hardened brain damage casuality (I have not read any of the replies above so no flame intended)
