Dan from Digital Crew posted this on Open. Keith from the same company says it's gone up to about a foot now. They're across from the GPO. Be working late tonight I'd say. :)

I'm over by George's Quay and it's fine over here so far.

I don't know about flooding in town - it's not bad out in Glounthaune atm, but it'll get worse. Not a big deal though.

I was on one of the flights diverted to Shannon this morning. Added over 3 hours to my already long journey.

Union Quay is totally flooded. People can't get out of Scotts on Oliver Plunkett Street cos of the flooding. The area by Aldi in Togher is under a lot of water too. Waves are smashing over the walkway by the tunnel.

    Nice.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

(Of course what Damien meant to say was that people don't want to get out of Scotts cos they'll get all they're pretty clothes wet. :))

Thank god I decided to get a bus home early today from college. Considering the bus normally doesn't need an excuse not to turn up...

In Ireland, it's a grey lining. And yes, every cloud does seem to have it.

Took me nearly 3/4 of an hour to cycle from Penrose Wharf to Bishop st, what with streets being cut off by water and traffic everywhere. It's sort of cool, in a "when weather goes wrong!!!!!1" tacky-sky-one-tv-show kind of way...ah, the joys of living on a hill :D

Doesn't it bring one back to the days when Cork was known as the Venice of the north? :-)

Carrigaline certainly is, police and fire brigade have barricades around all the access points of the town. All the businesses on Main St. have been flooded

Yup, Carrigaline was a nightmare last night. I work in Bishopstown & it usually takes me 25 minutes to get home. Took me 1hour 40mins last night. 1 hour 20 of that was from Shannon Park roundabout to my house! My sis walked through the village (she's about 5'3) and the water was just above her knees. Bloody 16year old's!!

I take my earler statement back - Glounthaune was hit fairly hard - the local restaurant was flooded with a fair bit of damage. The train tracks were flooded which stopped the Cobh train. There's sandbags around the shops and pubs too, but I think they got away with it.
