Well im just hoping some of you might be able to give me a tip on this!

Ok ive barely ever used a driver cuase ive played mainly pitch and putt and some hybrid courses!....Anyways, i dont seem to have a problem with irons or anything like that and generally get a smooth hit!

But recently when i used a driver for the first time i couldnt hit it properly to save my life! Now i know driver is a much longer shafted club but do any of you lot have tips to using one properly?

    Cheers in advance!

Driving is my favourite part of the game and here is a few tips for ya:
Your stance should be wider for your driver than for your irons to provide a more stable base. The ball should be positioned just inside your left foot. Dont tee the ball too low as it encourages a steep swing disastrous for driving. The key to long straight hitting is achieving alot of width in your backswing so extend your arms going back and dont rush it either, then at the top of the backswing resist the urge to lash at the ball instead use the width you have created to bring the arms back down into the hitting zone. Then follow through to a full finish. Hope this helps ya let me know how ya get on

If you are inexperienced, that is mainly use short irons, I'd try starting out with a 5 wood instead of a driver. The low loft on the driver is going to be much harder to use - the technique of the 5 and driver will be similar but you'll be less disheartened with the 5 to begin with.
