I was readying the post below about prague and am going with the Gf for a few days in Dec. I've been before but never in winter and was hoping to go to the Opera (as everyone recommends).
I know nothing about Opera, or the different theaters etc in Prague.
There are two on when we are there:

    Tosca NATIONAL THEATRE
    Aida PRAGUE STATE OPERA

I was thinking Tosca. Has anyone been to the National Theatre? Where is a good place to book tickets now/ and where in the Theatre would you suggest sitting?

All advise greatly appreciated as I'm trying to do this without herself knowing anything about it.

    Thanks
    M.

    I haven't been, so I can't say
but, you will find that all the churches in Prague have some sort of Opera gig going on in them, as you walk by the churches they are selling tickets, the singing sounds fantastic in churches, they're built for it.

I went to a Mozart gig in St. Nicholas church:

Tosca is the better of those two. Might help if you at least know the basic story before you see it though.
