lost poetry

i spent alot of time writting poetry over the last two years but over the summer it was all thrown out
now i cant seem to get back into writing it...
any suggestions?

hi tinsel, that's awful, i feel for you
i always seem to get inspired when i listen to music, or right before drifting off to sleep (annoying, but what can you do?)
it definitely pays to keep some paper and something to scribble with nearish the bed.
if this doesn't work, just read other people's, if it's moving it'll probably move you to create your own.

the music thing is a really good idea but i tend not to be alone too much anymore(not that id want to be alone) so its hard sometimes to find time to write or think about the things i enjoyed writing about the most.

Well theres your problem right there. You pretty much need uninterupted silence or some form of sustained personal space (i.e. being alone or removing the visual/audible distractions) if you want to write anything decent. I have a two year old niece who lives in teh same apartment as me and when she is around I can get nothing done. Not that I mind.

But if you dont have any time alone, then most probably you arent thinking very deeply on any one issue.

I write best when I'm in the apartment alone and have very loud heavy rock music playing through my headphones. But thats just me...
